Al was in his basement and noticed that his wall started caving in and knew there was a problem. He called Midwest Basement Systems as soon as he noticed the problem. We sent out one of our System Design Specialists to give a free quote to Al. He accepted the quote and wanted to get started immediately.
Our production team went out to Al's home and installed PowerBraces. These steel I-beams serve as a good solution to eventually bring a wall back to its original position with regular adjustments.
Al is very satisfied knowing his foundation is now stabilized!
Penny W. had been taking care of her mom in Council Bluffs, IA. Unfortunately, her mom passed and she decided to move back to Van Meter, IA. She fell in love with a home that she wanted to buy, but it had severe foundation issues. She noticed stairstep cracks in the block foundation and the walls were slightly bowing. Instead of letting that turn her away, she decided to investigate what it may take to fix the problems.
She called Midwest Foundation Repair and we came out to do a free inspection. Upon looking at the basement we suggested that we install PowerBraces. The PowerBrace system is a galvanized I-beam that runs the full height of your foundation wall that is securely fastened to the concrete basement floor and attached to the floor joist cavity utilizing one of our patented brackets. She decided to move forward with the project.
Penny was very happy with the work that Midwest completed and is now happily living in her forever home!
These homeowners in Waukee, IA noticed their entryway steps were leaning forward and portions of their driveway needed to be leveled. They knew it was best to take care of it now before it became more expensive and turned into a potential tripping hazard. Looking for a quick and permanent solution, the homeowners gave Midwest a call.
System Design Specialist Dan King arrived on the scene to inspect the situation. It became clear to him that their downspouts were running water towards the concrete and eroding the soils underneath. This was causing the control joints to fail and allowing water to seep in. To repair the concrete, our team utilized our PolyLevel foam to lift and level the entryway. After that was completed, NexusPro was used to fill all the cracks and joints in order to permanently prevent water from causing future damage.
The homeowners were so pleased with the final results that they spread the word to all of their surrounding neighbors. They chose Midwest to provide a permanent and effective solution in a timely manner.
This homeowner in Granger, IA noticed the floors on the first level of the home were extremely cold due to the winter air entering the crawl space beneath the home. They were familiar with Midwest and our dedication to providing a permanent solution, so they decided to give us a call.
Midwest arrived at the Granger, IA home to perform a thorough inspection in order to explore the best solutions. It was determined there was a large void under the concrete patio that created a gap allowing cold air and moisture to enter the crawl space. In addition, the crawl space wasn’t properly sealed to prevent moisture from entering the home through the floors. To fix the void under the concrete, the team installed our PolyLevel foam to permanently lift and level the sunken slab. Then, our CleanSpace waterproof barrier was applied to encapsulate the crawl space and guarantee it stays dry year-round.
The homeowner was thrilled with the effectiveness of our solutions and efficiency at which our teams operated. Midwest was able to make the home more efficient and more durable to stand the test of time.
This homeowner in Dexter, IA was concerned with the water seeping through the foundation walls every time it rained, or snow melt occurred. Her basement needed a waterproofing solution, and without hesitation she gave Midwest Foundation Repair a call.
To begin the waterproofing project, Midwest arrived at the Dexter, IA home to inspect the leaking foundation in order to find the best solution. The homeowner opted to have our teams install our WaterGuard and CleanSpace products. WaterGuard is an interior basement drainage system that is installed first, and then our CleanSpace waterproof barrier was applied to the full height of the walls to trap any moisture that attempts to infiltrate the foundation. The combination of these two products is the ultimate solution to keep a basement dry year-round.
The homeowner was thrilled with the solutions Midwest was able to provide. We were able to restore their peace of mind and give them confidence that their home can stand the test of time.
Dan D. of Waukee, Iowa plans on staying in his home for a “long while”, and he felt it was time to do something about the concrete problems he was noticing around his home - particularly the sinking slabs in his driveway and sidewalk that not only looked bad, but also created trip hazards. After inspecting the area, our System Design Specialist presented Dan with a solution and price he liked, and so we got to work.
To lift, level and protect Dan’s driveway and sidewalk, we used a 2-part approach beginning with of our PolyLevel polyurethane foam to first fill the voids that had formed beneath the sinking slabs, returning them to level. To protect the slabs from sinking again, we sealed the concrete joints with NexusPro to prevent water from flowing freely beneath the concrete where it can cause erosion of the soil and new voids.
The concrete slabs were extremely settled in some areas, and both Dan and our crew were very happy to see the slabs leveled again when the work was through. When asked about his experience, Dan had this to say, “I'm glad I called you guys and got on your list. I can now go to the mail box and not worry about tripping.”
Daryl N. In Adel, Iowa was having an issue with the old, buried discharge line that ran from his sump pump in the basement to his yard. A buried discharge line is a great way to redirect water up and away from a homes foundation, keeping the line out of sight. Unfortunately, Daryl’s discharge line was installed a bit too shallow, exposing it, which ultimately led to an unfortunate run-in with a lawnmower. The way the discharge was installed was also washing out the grass directly in the outlets path, causing unsightly patches in Daryl’s lawn.
To resolve the issue, we installed a new discharge line - burying it at the appropriate depth to keep it hidden. We also moved the outlet to a rock bed so that water could flow out without disrupting the surrounding grass.
Daryl was very happy to have the discharge line out of sight and working properly.
The customer had a falling brick facade that was due to their concrete settling in the driveway. Their concrete was settling more than 3 inches and caused a lot of issues both functionally and aesthetically.
We fixed this by using our concrete solution of Polylevel. This allowed us to raise the concrete, ultimately raising the brick facade back to where it was supposed to be, and then seal up all of the joints and concrete with NexusPro. After the concrete repair, we buried their downspouts far enough out so that water would not cause settlement issues again.
This homeowner was getting tired of watching his concrete getting worse and worse over time. It started pushing up against the foundation and started to let water into the basement. We have done waterproofing in their basement and they have been happy with our services, so they gave us another call. System Design Specialist, Austin Dermody, came out to meet with them. Austin noticed there were a lot of cracks and unsealed joints which allowed a direct path for water to wash soil away. This caused voids and the concrete to sink. Austin came back to them with the findings and a solution. He proposed we use PolyLevel to lift and level the concrete back into place, and NexusPro to seal the joints and cracks. Both of these products are waterproof, so this prevents any more water to get under and wash away more soil. The homeowner loved this solution and knew we would do it right, so we sent out our installation team. There is no doubt they do not have to worry about their concrete allowing water into the basement anymore.
This homeowner was living in their forever home, when they started to notice a musty smell in their living area coming from the crawlspace. He knew of Thrasher and our reputation, so he gave us a call to come out. System Design Specialist, Elliott Christians, came out to meet with him. Elliot did his free inspection of the area and off the bat noticed that his crawlspace was not encapsulated. Since there was no barrier between the dirt floor and the rest of the home, the moisture was seeping into the crawlspace and sending the smell to the rest of the home. Elliot came back to the homeowner with the findings and a solution. After some discussion, they decided to install drainage matting and CleanSpace for this issue. CleanSpace is our durable and waterproof tarp like material that is installed to the wall. This acts as barrier between the dirt crawlspace and the rest of the home. It keeps moisture and smells out keeping your home as safe as possible. The homeowner was very happy to have this job completed, and we know he has peace of mind not having to worry about the musty smell in his home.
